Campout RECAP

>
CREEK SMOKE SIGNALS – January 26, 2009

AHO BRAVE OF THE MIGHTY CREEK!
The Canaveral Nation’s Snow Moon Camp-out, how appropriate, was a tad bit on the COLD and WINDY side of Florida’s climate, in other words it felt as if it was cold enough to be a late fall night in the Rockies.

To start, camp set-up went fairly easy in the dark thanks, to the early arrival of the tribe’s equipment/tools and the presence of the Cats (Yardley), Monkeys (Henry), and Cheyenne Wolves (Brophy), along with the help of the Dragon’s (Corson) with selection and orientation, which made for easy access and circulation between the various teepees and the long house. The Snakes (Gay) arrived at the weekend’s rendezvous with weekend’s supply of firewood for the weekend that took the chill out of the air.

Saturday brought an early rise, except for the Cocoa Beach Wolves (Bevilacqua), to the tribe with the smell of coffee, bacon, smokies, and pancakes with eggs prepared on the tribe’s new kitchen equipment.

The Creek took some coupe on the field of combat as witnessed by the taking of the Nation’s mini peace pipe which is equal to second place in two (2) out of three (3) of the nation’s war games. The successful taking of coupe can be recognized as a result of the tribe’s great hand to eye coordination talents of tossing beanbags (corn hole) and ping-pong balls (turtle egg toss). The evening started with sunset ceremonial fire walk and the enticing smell of the celebratory meal of grill side of beef and the young brave’s favorite three-cheese tortellini.

Sunday carried in another of the Great Spirit’s stunning Florida sunrise with a bit of chill in the air and another tribal breakfast of good coffee, fruit juice, and organically raised bacon and eggs with pancakes from the farm of the white eyes at Publix trading post. Once the tribes divided the nation’s coupe under the warming mid sun, the Creek broke camp and headed to their family lodges.
