The Whole Tribe of Creek Little Braves

The Recruiting Fun Day was held this weekend and the Braves were able to get reacquainted after a long summer without a campout. The Braves are centered around the catapult used in war games. Zac Drazich is spotted, and secretly wishes for Indian Guide membership, gladly trading his Cub Scout cap in for a headband.

Saturday's War Game

The Creek tribe will be unveiling the newest war game at Saturday's Recruitment Day. The catapult will be shot by the Little Brave, and the Big Brave will catch as many balls in a designated time period to score the competition. See you all at KARS 11-3.

Publix Fundraiser Sept 8th 9-1

The Cocoa Beach Publix has graciously allowed us to conduct a fundraiser on their steps. Being the "local" tribe, the store manager has provided us Sept 8 from 9-1 to take donations from store patrons. There is only one group allowed per month, and we got the premium month--SEPT. More to follow, but please mark your calendars for Sept. 8, and get those Indian Guide shirts and vests ready for a fundraising mission. This is a great oppourtunity to get some funds for some much needed tribal gear, and to pass out recruiting flyers.

We will designate hourly blocks for volunteering, so noone will have to be there for the full block. Panhandlers, are you ready?

Aho Big and Little Braves of the Mighty Creek Tribe,

The 2007-2008 camping season for the Canaveral Nation is rapidly approaching. I am certain you are all looking forward to our best year ever. I would like to introduce myself, Geoff Pletcher as the new Creek Chief, and Tom Yardley as the new Medicine Man, and Charlie Gay as the new Wampum Bearer.

We have big moccasins to fill. The Creek tribe has a long history of great leadership and decicated tribal members. This tribe has a rich heritage and has been in existence for over 30 years providing fun and great times for fathers and sons.

We have some great events in mind for the upcoming year. As always, our primary goal is to have fun and strengthening the bond between fathers and sons through this unique organization. A complete schedule for the upcoming year will be forthcoming to include campout dates and tribal meeting dates. The camping season begins in September and goes through May. We camp every month with the exception of December.

Also, every month we will have a tribal meeting at the teepee of one of the families. This year we plan to reemphasize the traditional tribal meeting format, and placing an emphasis on the achievement feathers for the Little Braves. Once the schedule is made available, please look for a meeting date which is convenient for you to host.

Our Nation Council and leadership has had a complete changing of the guard. These guys are selflessly dedicated to advancing the goals of the Indian Guides, and have some great events/ideas for the upcoming year. I look forward to a great relationship with the Nation Council and the other tribes of the Canaveral Nation.

Some of the highlights our tribe has in mind are a: beach outing, canoeing the 1000 Islands, the Byrd Island Outing, Yeehaw Junction Florida Fun Outing, On the Edge Rock Climbing Gym outing, the Pinewood Derby, and the Cocoa Beach Christmas parade. We need some new members. If you have friends who may be interested in participating in this great organization, please bring them to a meeting or campout. The Nation is planning an extensive recruiting drive this year. Again, more information will be forthcoming, but we will be looking for Big Braves to volunteer at the Cocoa Beach elementary schools to distribute recruiting information. If your child is at Freedom 7, Roosevelt, or Our Saviour, please stand by to volunteer!

End of Year wraps up at Banquet Campout

Aho Creek Tribe.

The banquet campout last weekend was a spectacular event. Thanks for the participation of the Creek campers. We look forward to seeing the rest of our tribe in the fall when the next season commences.

We had unseasonably pleasant temperatures all weekend with a healthy breeze, and fun activities for all. A guest appearance by Charlie Gay, and Skylar was a welcome addition. As usual the Tom Tom club provided dining excellence. Friday night, a couple of the tribal elders joined us for wine and cheese--Ken Lynch and Greg Stankie. Ken even brought some fresh redfish--what a treat!!

The campout was less structured than most, but the little braves always love a great campfire, and many attended sporting activities throughout the day. The Yardley clan brought most of the tribe to their baseball game, and Paul Brophy played in his own. Joey Manfreti went down South to compete in a surf competition against the pros. Way to go little braves!!

The banquet was Saturday night, followed by a movie in the pavillion. A gift exchange was held at the closing ceremony where all the little braves scored some serious coup!!

We had a less than formal change of command, and Jimmy Gecko has passed the torch as Cheif to Pletch. Our new (not so mean) Medicine Man is Tom Yardley, and Charlie Gay has been recruited as Cash Man the Wampum Bear.

Did you think the Bahamas was too far out of reach? The lighthouse in the Bahamas invitation is a real one. Tom Yardley has invited us to the Bahamas, since he has a place there for the month of July. Who wants to go?

Banquet Campout May 18-20!
